Verse - Sourat 2, Verse 200 & 201

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

200.     So when ye have accomplished your holy rites, celebrate the praises of Allah, as ye used to celebrate the praises of your fathers, - yea, with far more heart and soul. There are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Thy bounties) in this world!" but they will have no portion in the Hereafter.

Ø      Comment(s):

§         Ibn 'Abbas said Allah ask us to celebrate his praise most often than a child calls his parents.

§         It is allowed to celebrate Allah for meeting ones needs in this life, but celebrating or praying only this world without asking anything for the hereafter is a proof of love for this world and neglecting of the hereafter.  For anyone doing it, his loss on the Day of Judgment is clear.

201. And there are men who say: "Our Lord! Give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and defend us from the torment of the Fire!"

Ø      Commentaries:

For what it contains as good and protection against devil, this prayer was mostly done by the Holy Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him)as reported by Anas (May Bless him).

The Noble Quran: Sourat 2, Verse 200 & 201.
